Understanding Hearts

1 min read

A heart wound can feel like an invisible sack of rocks in your backpack. It seems normal because rocks are added one at a time, similar to a frog in a pot of cool water that will be boiled. Two things I’m convinced we don’t know:

We don’t know how heavy the load is and its impact on our lives until the load is lifted.

When a person is deceived, he/she isn’t aware of the deception (lie). What you believe as truth to you may not be God's truth. That’s the power of deception.

By reaching out and genuinely seeking to hear God's voice, you begin to look into your backpack of hurts, one rock at a time. It works even if the person who hurt you or whom you hurt is no longer living. God’s presence is very comforting, allowing us to acknowledge our pain without judgment. His whispers reinforce His promise that we are not alone. His words are gentle and soft, but not always what one wants to hear. He tells the truth.

I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what He will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint.

Then the Lord replied: Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.

Habakuk 2:1-2

To hear God's voice, we learn easy steps. In monthly retreats, we dive into the depth of four keys to hearing His voice in Habakkuk 2:1-2. The teachings are several 45-minute series of listening and practicing. God doesn’t make things complicated...people do.
